The Corinne Burton Memorial Trust supports the training and ongoing employment of Art Therapists who specialize in cancer care at Goldsmiths, University of London, and across UK hospitals and hospices.
I received the Corinne Burton scholarship in 2013. For the Trust’s 25th anniversary in 2018 I helped organise and curate a celebratory exhibition and edited an accompanying book to showcase the stories and artworks of trainee and practising Art Therapists working in cancer care, and their patients.
The book celebrates the incalculable contribution the CBMT has made to the practice of art therapy with people affected by cancer, marking Sir Michael Burton’s and the Trustees’ 25 years of support for art therapy.
The publication features inspirational artwork and personal stories by 39 of the past and present recipients of the CBMT scholarship as well as by Corinne Burton Therapists and their patients. It’s introduced by Professor Di Waller OBE, Emeritus Professor of Art Psychotherapy, and has contributions from Dr Jill Westwood as the Goldsmiths MA Art Psychotherapy Programme Convener as well as from Dr Chris Gallagher, Consultant Medical Oncologist, and Sir Michael Burton QC.
